AUTUMN 2023 update.

We look forward to an excellent 2024 sailing season on both Capella and Ploes, we have good availability and access on both yachts, it is a good opportunity in the earlier part of next year to get your trip planned. We do already now have some weeks booked so the sooner you book the better chance of getting your desired dates.

Sailing calendAr, Rates, Bookings and TASTER DAYS!

Members of the sailing club can book time afloat on either Yacht, and you must be a either paid up as a temporary day member or a yearly club member to sail on the club boats. Once you have been accredited as a skipper under the club rules, you can then sail the yachts as skipper.

To check the availability of Capella or Ploes please look on the Calendar to see the availability of both yachts. I have added separate calendars for both yachts, the Capella Calendar and the Ploes calendar are just below. To make a booking of one of our boats please fill out the form at the bottom of this page, we will to confirm your booking by email as soon as possible.

The Capella Calendar

CONTRIBUTION FOR USE OF CLUB YACHT 'Ploes' Bavaria 40 based in Fethiye Turkey IN 2024:

Contributions to use Ploes for a week will be £1800. Additional days to extend a week hire are at a contribution rate of £260 per day. The booking will be secured by the payment of a 10% deposit, with the balance due at least one month before the departure date. We have also introduced a discount rate for weeks in August and November, the price is 70% of the normal weekly rates. For weeks crossing the month barrier individual days will be calculated at a daily pro-rata rate, that is on any days in the week booked falling inside the month of August or November the daily rate will be reduced to £182. Any bookings can be made from the day after the November AGM and will be confirmed when the person booking is a fully paid up member for that following year. Ploes can also be used as a stationary houseboat for £250 per week, this maybe requested 12 months in advance but this will only be confirmed four weeks in advance, please contact us for the additional restrictions. For 2024 on Ploes we have introduced a service where bedding (one sheet and throw per cabin) plus towels will be supplied for each of the 3 cabins, this is optional and linen is for all 3 cabins, this linen is now paid for by the club. This linen will be collected from the cockpit once you have left Ploes and clean linen will be provided for the next crew, Gas bottles are also now paid for by the club as they often cross weeks booked, if you get them from Claire she can invoice the club, or pay and get a receipt then claim the money back. The cost is 350TL per gas bottle (about £10) in 2023.

CONTRIBUTION for days in 2024 FOR the USE OF CLUB YACHT 'Capella’ based in LEVINGTON);

Contributions to use Capella for a week will be £860. The daily contributions are £130 per week day, £145 per weekend day. The booking will be secured by the payment of a 10% deposit with balance due 14 days before you are due to sail.

A reduced Winter rate of 75% the cost of the normal day rate has been introduced, this discount solely applies to full day bookings and is £98 per week day (or £109 per weekend day) during the winter period, that is while the clocks are on GMT.

A one-day sail booking will only be confirmed 2 weeks in advance, bookings of more than 1 day take precedence.

An evening sail may now be booked and confirmed 2 weeks in advance, the cost is £50 per evening, this booking may start at 4pm.

A deposit of £500 may be required in advance of the use of 'Capella' and £500 for the use of Ploes

CONTRIBUTION FOR SKILLS DAYS ON CAPELLA.

The Club is keen to encourage members to improve their skills with a view to becoming day skippers and subsequently Club accredited skippers. We do not offer formal training but members can request the club to organise a skipper to take them for a day sail to practise skills. A contribution of £50 is requested from each person looking to practice their skills.

CONTRIBUTION FOR TASTER sails ON Capella.

The cost of a Taster sail will be £50 for the yacht for 4 hours per person, plus temporary membership of £25 if not already a member, to paid at time of booking, however this temporary membership fee of £25 will be refunded to that person if they join the club as a member in that Club calendar year. A temporary membership form must also be completed, a session will normally last for about 4 hours. The cost of a Family Taster sail will be £50 for the yacht for 4 hours per family, plus temporary family membership of £35 if not already a member, to paid at time of booking,

CONTRIBUTION FOR Skipper Tests ON Capella.

The cost of a prospective Skipper Test will be £50 for the yacht per day per person, plus temporary membership of £25 if not already a member to paid on the day, however this temporary membership fee of £25 will be refunded to that person if they join the club as a member. A Skippers Test membership form must also be completed, see below.

You are required to be a club member to sail on the club yachts, you can do this by becoming a Temporary Member, the form and rates are shown on the Joining Us page, they vary according to the type of temporary membership.

Skippers to confirm that there will be a nominated responsible adult present for any child/young person sailing on a club yacht, and that the relevant parent/guardian has given permission for their presence. In such situations it is a requirement that the ‘Child/Young Person Sailing Form' (additional form to be completed) by the nominated responsible adult, in advance of the booking being confirmed.

TASTER DAYS and skipper Accreditation - online FORM

The Boat Committee has drawn up a list of members considered to be sufficiently experienced and responsible to skipper either Capella or Ploes. The Club proposes to run a number of taster days and or cruises for those members in need of further experience before being allowed to skipper either of the club yachts. An experienced skipper and a mate, will be in charge of the club yacht during this test.

Prospective skippers will be vetted during these taster days or cruises and will need to be accredited before being able to skipper the Club yachts. The cost of a test will be £50 per person plus temporary membership of £25 paid on the day, however this temporary membership fee will be refunded to that person if they join the club as a sailing member.
